The virtual Saudi Ophthalmology meeting concluded its scientific sessions, which lasted three days from 16-18 Dhu al-Hijjah 1441 AH corresponding to 6-8 August 2020 CE. Saudi Ophthalmology meeting was organized by the Saudi Society of Ophthalmology and King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital in cooperation with the Ophthalmology Department, College of Medicine at King Saud University. Such scientific efforts aim to achieve the Kingdom’s vision 2030.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in all ophthalmology specialties, and included 38 scientific sessions, 112 scientific papers, 10 training courses, 6 workshops, 26 scientific posters, and 6 video presentations, with the participation of 13 international ophthalmology speakers, and 60 local speakers the meeting was accompanied by virtual international exhibition of ophthalmic and optical devices and equipment.
More than 1000 ophthalmologists, optometrists, and those interested in ophthalmology were also registered in the meeting.
During which a number of distinguished ophthalmologists and optometrists and the medical companies that participated in the medical exhibition were honored.
The meeting was concluded with the King Khalid Memorial Lecture given by Professor of Ophthalmology, University of Oxford, Consultant, Fellow of Vitreous Surgeon at Merton College, (United Kingdom) Professor Dr. Robert McLaren.
That memorial lecture addressed annually in memory of King Khalid – God’s mercy – who instructed for the construction of King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in 1979.
