Minor Surgery (Outpatient Clinics)
Preoperative Instructions
- You must come to the Outpatient Clinics on time so that the treating medical team can make the appropriate arrangements to avoid cancellation of the procedure.
- You may eat meals at your regular times prior to surgery. There is no need to fast. If you are diabetic or hypertensive, you should eat before coming to the hospital.
- You must take the medications prescribed by your doctor precisely. You should bring all current medications with you on the day of surgery. If you are diabetic or hypertensive, you must take your medications before the surgery.
- You must bring a companion on the day of surgery as you will not be able to drive after your surgery.
Postoperative Instructions
- You must arrange for your next appointment before leaving the hospital.
- You may have a patch on your operated eye when discharged from the hospital. Keep the patch on as ordered by the doctor.
- You must apply medications to the affected eye as ordered by the doctor.
- You should go to the emergency room if any abnormal signs (e.g. swelling, redness, or discharge) are noted in your operated eye.
